Remove clutter and de-personalise

Yes, we want to make the property feel cosy, but we don’t mean adding clutter. There’s no room for “cosy” clutter in a staged property.  Making a home feel cosy does not entail bringing in the family photos or the stuff you enjoy doing together.  Our idea of cosy is making the property feel like it is inviting.

 Tip:  Consider packing up some of your belongings prior to listing and putting them into storage.  Aside from making it easier when it comes to moving day, it makes the house become brighter and more spacious. Pack away your personal effects and family photographs.  Help potential buyers see a neutral and blank canvas, so they can imagine their family photographs and effects in place.

Tidy up and get organised

This does not need more emphasis.  In preparing to sell your home, you need to clean up from ceiling to floor.  Wash the windows and drapes; have the carpets professionally cleaned; wash the furniture if needed.  Get rid of unnecessary stuff. Neat, well-ordered room shows that space is ample. There’s no need to empty the shelves, but you should give the impression that there’s enough storage space.

Attend to all minor repairs
